Gift of Go Unveils Epic Brazil Expedition Series for 2024

THE HIGHLANDS OF THE BRAZIL

In a world increasingly craving authentic travel experiences, Gift of Go emerges as a beacon for adventurers seeking true exploration. Their debut series of expeditions into Brazil’s most remote and captivating regions promises an unparalleled blend of adventure, discovery, and cultural immersion in 2024.

The inaugural expedition, ‘An Exploration of the Highlands of Brazil,’ is a 14-day odyssey spanning 125 miles into the majestic Serra do Espinhaço. Commencing on May 6th, this transformative journey accommodates a maximum of eight travelers and 10 expedition crew members, ensuring an intimate and personalized adventure.

Participants will traverse a labyrinth of ancient trails and backroads, embracing a variety of modes of transport including trekking, horseback riding, boating, biking, bushwhacking, and overlanding. This immersive experience allows travelers to disconnect from the modern world and reconnect with nature, history, and themselves.

The expedition promises a tapestry of breathtaking landscapes, from Seussian vistas to colonial villages and former slave settlements known as quilombos. Travelers will encounter pristine white sand beaches, cascading waterfalls, cola-colored rivers, bubbling hot springs, and rarely-visited UNESCO World Heritage sites. The journey culminates in the vibrant Vesperata celebration in Diamantina, the UNESCO “city of diamonds,” offering a unique glimpse into the region’s rich cultural heritage.

Despite its historical significance as the epicenter of the world’s diamond trade, the Serra do Espinhaço has remained largely forgotten for close to two centuries. This isolation has preserved its pristine beauty and biodiversity, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts and intrepid travelers. The region boasts three UNESCO-designated sites and is home to two globally-renowned biodiversity hotspots, the Brazilian Savanna and Atlantic Rainforest.

The expedition is divided into four immersive chapters, each offering a distinct perspective of the region. ‘The Serra’ invites travelers on an epic mountain trek, while ‘The Garden’ navigates Brazil’s hinterland by pack mule and jon-boat. ‘The Sertão’ showcases the lowlands with miles of open road to festive cow towns and legendary hospitality. Finally, ‘The Berço’ reveals dramatic landscapes that lead to tales of hardship and glory, culminating in the slave-built highway that cascades into Diamantina.

Gift of Go’s meticulously curated trips, ranging from 14 to 28 days, are designed to challenge and reward travelers, offering deeply immersive and enriching experiences that are as transformative as they are unforgettable. With a focus on authenticity and cultural exchange, these expeditions aim to redefine the way we travel and connect with the world around us.

Gift of Go’s cofounder, Eddie Lott, emphasizes the unique nature of these trips, stating, “We are living in the Golden Age of picture-perfect places, carefully-crafted ‘authenticity’, and readily-collectible ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ experiences. GOGO trips are different—in our minds, there is simply nothing more compelling, profound, or enriching than experiencing real life in a world far from our own.”

The first series of Gift of Go’s slow travel experiences commences on May 6th, with additional trips scheduled throughout the year. For those seeking a truly transformative travel experience, options include the 21-day ‘A Diamantine Tale’ and the epic 28-day ‘Diamond/Wild Tales + Lost Trails.’ Limited bespoke itineraries are also available, offering a tailored experience for those with specific interests and preferences.
