Armored Core VI’s First Toy Release Set for September:
The highly anticipated Armored Core VI is making waves with its first toy release, the IB-07: SOL 644 / Ayre, set to hit shelves this September. Priced at 18,150 yen (approximately $117), this Robot Damashii toy is not only sizeable but also features diecast elements, bridging the gap between standard Robot Damashii releases and the more premium Metal Robot Damashii toys.
However, fans should note that this toy won’t include the transformation feature seen in the game’s Bad Ending. This omission is likely to keep costs down, as a transformation feature would have required a more expensive chogokin release due to the intensive joint and diecast requirements for such a feature to function properly.
In an interview with Hobby Watch, Bandai Spirits expressed interest in creating more bosses from Armored Core VI, including the IBIS series of mecha and even Baltheus. The IBIS series AC, specifically the IB-C03: HAL 826, has been hinted at on the Bandai Spirits Twitter/X account, referencing a line from Handler Walter in the game’s Good Ending. This upcoming release is sure to excite fans.
It’s worth noting the curious decision to create toys of end-game bosses, which not only serve as significant spoilers but also feature mecha that many players may not be familiar with, based on the percentage of trophies/achievements related to these bosses. Despite this, the IB-07: SOL 644 / Ayre promises to be a compelling addition to any Armored Core collection, although some fans may find the Coral energy paintjob to be a bit excessive in places. It will be fascinating to see how well this toy sells.
