Viture One XR Glasses: Cutting-Edge Assisted Reality Eyewear

VITURE

Viture’s founder, David Jiang, showcased his groundbreaking prototype glasses at CES in January 2022. The glasses, which had recently secured $2.5 million on Kickstarter, left a lasting impression. Upon donning them, I was transported to a world where a handheld Steam device appeared as a massive 120” screen, positioned above me rather than in my hands. The product shipped as promised later that year and was honored by Time as one of 2022’s best inventions.

Following this success, Viture secured over $10 million in Series A funding from BAI Capital and Verity Ventures. This financial backing allowed the company to mass-produce its flagship product, the Viture One, and compete with industry giants like XReal, which had amassed over $100 million in funding.

The Viture One XR Glasses boast a sleek, minimalist design, available in matte black or white. Setting them up is a breeze – simply plug them into your device’s USB-C port, adjust the diopters for personalized focus, and you’re ready to dive into a world of enhanced reality. Weighing in at just 78 grams, these smartglasses are so lightweight that you’ll hardly notice them, even after hours of wear.

What sets the Viture One XR Glasses apart is their seamless integration with smartphones. By offloading most of the computing to the smartphone, the glasses become an extension of your device, capable of whatever your smartphone can handle. This approach differs from the all-in-one approach favored by Meta, with Apple Vision Pro and its predecessors opting for a tethered external power supply.

One of the most impressive features of the Viture One XR Glasses is their display quality. With a resolution of 1080p per eye, the visuals are sharp and vivid, providing an immersive viewing experience. The lenses can be dimmed at the touch of a button, allowing for easy adaptation to different lighting conditions. For outdoor use, accessory shades are recommended.

Sound quality is another area where the Viture One XR Glasses shine. Equipped with built-in Harmon speakers, the audio experience is spatial, immersive, and captivating, whether you’re gaming or watching movies. While the neckband accessory is recommended for a more visceral sound experience, the built-in speakers deliver impressive performance on their own.

The glasses also offer convenient controls, with a multi-function button that switches the electrochromic film dimming of the external lenses. This feature allows you to see through the glasses like ordinary sunglasses or reduce the opacity to improve visibility in bright light. Double-tapping the button switches the rocker switch between volume and brightness, while triple-tapping pins the video to a fixed location, allowing you to turn your head away from the screen.

Despite its strengths, the Viture One XR Glasses do have some limitations. Some users may find the field of view to be modest, and occasional blurriness may occur. However, these issues are minor and do not significantly detract from the overall experience.

In a market saturated with competitive offerings, such as XReal ($439), Rokid ($499), TCL Nextwear ($349), and Ray-Neo ($378), Viture stands out for its innovative approach to assisted reality. With its exceptional display quality, lightweight design, and seamless smartphone integration, the Viture One XR Glasses offer a practical and immersive assisted reality experience for everyday use.
