Trump’s Nephew Accuses Him of Using Racial Slur

Trump and J.D. Vance Rally in Grand Rapids

In a provocative new book set to be released next week, Fred Trump III, the nephew of former President Donald Trump, alleges that he heard his uncle use a racial slur in the 1970s. The claim comes amid Trump’s impending challenge against Vice President Kamala Harris, the first Black woman to top a major party’s presidential ticket.

According to an excerpt from Fred Trump III’s book, “All in the Family: The Trumps and How We Got This Way,” which was published in The Guardian, the alleged incident took place in the early 1970s. The book describes Trump as using the N-word in a fit of anger over damage to his Cadillac convertible. Trump III recounts Trump’s reaction: “‘Ns,’ I recall him saying disgustedly. ‘Look what the ns did.’”

The excerpt suggests that Trump’s frustration with the damage to his car led him to make a racially charged comment. Trump III’s account suggests that Trump’s anger “then went straight to the place where people’s minds sometimes go when they face a fresh affront. Across the racial divide.”

Fred Trump III, who has been vocal in his criticism of his uncle, is co-authoring the book with his sister, Mary Trump. They have previously sued the former president and his siblings, accusing them of excluding them from their grandfather’s will after his death in 1999. The upcoming book promises to delve into what it describes as the “darker corners” of the Trump family legacy, according to a summary on Simon and Schuster’s website.

Steven Cheung, a spokesperson for Trump’s campaign, vehemently denied the allegations. In a statement to The Daily Beast, Cheung dismissed the claims as “completely fabricated and total fake news of the highest order,” asserting that anyone familiar with Trump would know he would never use such language. Cheung also emphasized that false stories like these have been thoroughly debunked.

The book’s release is timed just weeks after President Joe Biden’s surprising withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race, reshaping the dynamics of the upcoming election. With Biden out of the race, Trump is expected to face Vice President Kamala Harris, as the majority of Democratic delegates have pledged their support for her. The official nomination is anticipated during the first week of August.

Mary Trump, Fred Trump III’s sister, has also been critical of their uncle. Her book, “Too Much and Never Enough,” published by Simon and Schuster, accuses Donald Trump of being “clearly racist.” Mary Trump is preparing to release another memoir this year focused on the life of her father, Fred Trump Jr., who died at 42 due to complications related to alcoholism.

The allegations of Donald Trump using racial slurs have surfaced multiple times over the years. In May, former “The Apprentice” producer Bill Pruitt claimed in a Slate exposé that Trump questioned whether America would “buy a n— winning” when discussing Black finalist Kwame Jackson during the show’s first season in 2004. Omarosa Manigault Newman, another contestant, has also claimed to have heard tapes of Trump using the racial slur during the show’s filming, though these tapes have never been produced. Trump has consistently denied these accusations.
