Marantz Launches MODEL 10 Series High-End Audio Components

Marantz MODEL 10 Champagne

Marantz, a name synonymous with high-quality audio for over 70 years, has introduced its latest innovation: the 10 Series Collection. This new lineup of high-end audio components is designed for discerning music lovers who demand the best in sound quality. The 10 Series marks a significant milestone for Marantz, being the first new range of high-end stereo components the company has released since 2016. It is a testament to Marantz’s unwavering commitment to excellence in audio design.

The 10 Series Collection comprises three reference-quality products: the MODEL 10 Reference Integrated Amplifier, the SACD 10 Reference SACD player, and the LINK 10n Reference Network Audio Player. Each of these products is the result of five years of meticulous development at the Shirakawa Audio Works in Japan, a facility renowned for producing some of the most iconic hi-fi components in Marantz’s history. The first product to be launched from this collection is the MODEL 10 Reference Integrated Amplifier, a powerhouse that Marantz describes as the most powerful integrated amplifier it has ever created.

The MODEL 10 amplifier is built around a dual-mono symmetrical amplifier layout, a design choice that ensures superior sound quality and performance. This layout is housed within a copper-plated, triple-layered chassis that features a compartmentalized design. The compartments and strategically placed shields isolate the high and low-power circuits from each other, preventing interference and ensuring that the amplifier delivers the purest sound possible.

One of the standout features of the MODEL 10 is its fully balanced amplifier operation, which runs from input to output. This is achieved through a partnership with Purifi, a company known for its expertise in amplifier technology. Marantz has developed a new amplifier with Purifi, two of which are used for dual-mono operation in the MODEL 10. Each channel of the amplifier has its own individual power supply, and all line-level inputs are powered by a separate linear power supply. This design results in an incredibly low distortion level of just 0.05% THD across the entire audio band at full power, with even better performance at half-rated power.

The amplifier section of the MODEL 10 is driven by a new preamplifier that uses Marantz’s latest generation of HDAM analog circuitry. HDAM, or Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Module, is a proprietary Marantz technology first introduced in the PM-99SE amplifier back in 1992. This technology has been refined over the years to deliver a perfectly balanced response and exceptional transparency, making the MODEL 10 a truly high-performance amplifier.

The MODEL 10 is capable of delivering a maximum output of 250 watts into 8Ω, which increases to 500 watts into 4Ω. For those who need even more power, the amplifier can be configured in a bi-amplified stereo system by adding a second MODEL 10. Marantz’s Floating Control Bus System allows up to four MODEL 10s to be connected and controlled together, offering unparalleled flexibility and power for the most demanding audio setups.

Aesthetically, the MODEL 10 pays homage to Marantz’s rich history with its porthole-style OLED display screen, a feature that reflects the design of classic Marantz products. This display can show the volume level, selected input, or a VU meter, with options to adjust the brightness and display timeout. For those who appreciate a tactile experience, the MODEL 10 features CNC-machined spun-finished aluminum control knobs for volume and input selection. Each knob is fitted with individual bearings to provide a smooth and satisfying feel. Even the remote control handset is a work of art, with a teal-colored aluminum top surface that is unique to the MODEL 10.

Inside, the MODEL 10 continues to impress with its attention to detail. The amplifier features a unique mesh-covered grille section with Marantz’s rhythmic design pattern, which is illuminated from within. The solid aluminum side panels provide an ultra-low-resonance structure, contributing to the amplifier’s exceptional performance. The front of the amplifier boasts a hairline finish on the extruded aluminum control surface, complemented by discreet LED lighting that can be adjusted through 20 steps of illumination.

In terms of connectivity, the MODEL 10 offers a range of options to suit various audio setups. It includes two XLR balanced inputs, three RCA analog inputs, and a high-quality phono stage that supports both MM cartridges and offers three impedance options for broad MC compatibility. Preamplifier outputs are available in both XLR and RCA formats, and the amplifier can be run solely as a power amp by bypassing the internal preamp when paired with the LINK 10n Reference Network Audio Player from the 10 Series Collection. Additionally, the MODEL 10 features selectable speaker A/B outputs and a high-quality headphone output, making it a versatile component for any audiophile’s setup.

Following the release of the MODEL 10 amplifier, Marantz will introduce the SACD 10, a CD player built to the same exacting standards. After that, the LINK 10n Reference Network Audio Player will hit the market. The LINK 10n is powered by the HEOS system, enabling streaming of high-resolution music. It can play audio files stored locally on USB or network servers at up to 384kHz/32-bit and DSD 4X without any downsampling or conversion. The LINK 10n supports a wide range of services and technologies, including Airplay 2, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Bluetooth, TuneIn, Deezer, and Pandora.

One of the LINK 10n’s key features is its ability to integrate with up to 32 other HEOS Built-In devices, including home theater systems, stereo electronics, powered speakers, and soundbars. This capability allows users to create a comprehensive whole-home audio system that delivers high-quality sound throughout the house.

The new Marantz MODEL 10 Reference Integrated Amplifier is now available for purchase, priced at $15,000 in the United States, £12,000 in the United Kingdom, and €14,500 in Europe. With its advanced technology, meticulous craftsmanship, and timeless design, the MODEL 10 is set to become a must-have for serious audiophiles.
