Anker Solix C300 Review: Compact Power Station

Anker, a prominent name in the realm of mobile power banks, is expanding its expertise into the portable power station market. With over a decade of experience and more than 200 million products sold, Anker has a well-established reputation in battery technology. Their latest innovation in this field is the Anker Solix C300 DC portable power station, which aims to deliver reliable power for your mobile devices while on the go or during emergencies.

Over the past decade, the portable power station industry has evolved significantly. I have observed five major trends: advancements in battery capacity, the shift towards safer and longer-lasting LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) cells, increased power output, integration with mobile apps for remote monitoring, and the inclusion of AC outlets. The Anker Solix C300 embraces four of these trends but opts to forgo the AC outlet, focusing instead on a more streamlined approach to power delivery.

The Anker Solix C300 is designed with portability in mind. It features a 288Wh LiFePO4 battery that provides a maximum output of 300W. This compact power station, measuring under 5 inches square and standing 7.9 inches tall, is tailored to keep your mobile devices charged during outdoor activities or emergencies. While it lacks an AC outlet, it is well-suited for powering or charging devices such as phones, tablets, laptops, cameras, and USB-powered camping gear like fans, coolers, or air pumps.

Despite its small footprint, the Solix C300 is equipped with a comprehensive selection of charge ports. It includes two 140W USB-C ports, which are capable of running or charging most laptops and are also used to recharge the power station itself. Charging the unit via one of these ports took me most of an afternoon, but Anker claims that using both ports can bring the battery to 80% in just one hour. Additionally, there is a 100W USB-C port for high-speed charging, a 15W USB-C port for smaller devices, a 120W car adapter for vehicle charging, and two 12W USB Type-A ports for various USB-A compatible devices. This array of ports allows for simultaneous charging of multiple devices, enhancing its versatility and convenience.

One standout feature of the Solix C300 is its innovative integrated lantern. While many portable power stations come with a basic LED light, Anker’s design takes it a step further. The top panel of the Solix C300 reveals a folding LED lantern with three brightness settings, providing soft, ambient lighting that can effectively illuminate a small space. This feature is particularly useful during power outages or when camping, potentially replacing a traditional lantern. Although Anker does not specify the exact runtime for the lantern, I found that running it at the lowest setting for an hour did not deplete the power station’s charge.

The Solix C300 is built with portability in mind. Weighing just over seven pounds, it is significantly lighter than many other power stations, which can weigh over 40 pounds or more. It features an integrated carry handle for ease of transport and an optional shoulder strap for added convenience. Anker claims that the unit is impact-resistant, though it’s advisable to handle it with care. Additionally, users should be mindful of the operating temperature, keep the device level during use, and protect it from rain. These precautions are important for maintaining the longevity and performance of the power station, especially in outdoor settings.

While the Anker Solix C300 DC portable power station does not include an AC outlet, it offers an excellent solution for those needing portable power for mobile devices. Its compact size, extensive port selection, and innovative lantern feature make it a valuable addition to your outdoor gear or emergency preparedness kit. For anyone focused on portability and the need to keep devices charged without access to traditional power sources, the Anker Solix C300 is a commendable choice. With its impressive features and practical design, it stands out as a reliable and convenient power solution.
