Oura Ring 4: ŌURA Unveils Sleek, Advanced Smart Ring

Oura Ring 4

ŌURA, the Finnish tech company known for its health-monitoring rings, has unveiled its latest innovation: the Oura Ring 4. This new version is being promoted as the company’s most accurate smart ring yet, featuring enhanced capabilities, more sizing options, and a redesigned companion app. Following speculation about a forthcoming release, the company has delivered on expectations, revealing a sleek, improved version of its popular smart ring.

Having tested many smart rings on the market, the Oura Ring stands out as the most impressive. Its lightweight, slim design allows for all-day wear, offering convenience without sacrificing comfort. The information provided through the Oura app is comprehensive, making it easy to access essential health data. The Oura Ring’s combination of effective hardware and intuitive software has always set it apart from competitors, and with the Oura Ring 4, both of these aspects are significantly improved.

The design of the Oura Ring 4 brings a number of refinements over its predecessors. At just 2.88mm thick, it is thinner and lighter than ever, weighing between 3.3g and 5.2g, depending on the size. More sizing options are available, with sizes ranging from 4 to 15. However, existing Oura users are advised to resize, as the new design differs slightly from earlier models. The sensors, which were previously raised, are now recessed, giving the ring a fully rounded interior. This contributes to a more comfortable fit and enhances the overall design. In addition, the Oura Ring 4 is made entirely of titanium, marking the company’s first fully titanium ring, offering durability without adding weight.

The new Oura Ring 4 is available in six color options: Black, Stealth, Silver, Brushed Silver, Rose Gold, and Gold. These sleek, elegant finishes provide users with stylish choices to match their personal tastes. A fan-favorite feature from previous models, the dimpled design found in the Oura Ring Horizon, has been retained, adding both aesthetic appeal and practical comfort.

The Oura Ring 4’s advanced sensor technology has been significantly upgraded to improve accuracy. Using an algorithm that responds to individual finger physiology, such as skin tone and size, the ring adapts to the unique characteristics of each user’s finger. The sensors also factor in Body Mass Index (BMI) and age, allowing the ring to provide more precise readings tailored to the individual.

The ring includes red and infrared LEDs for measuring blood oxygen levels, especially during sleep. Other sensors measure heart rate, heart rate variability, and respiratory rate, also focusing on sleep. These features, combined with a temperature sensor and an accelerometer, allow the ring to track over 30 health and wellness metrics, giving users a complete picture of their overall health.

One of the most notable improvements in the Oura Ring 4 is its extended battery life, which now lasts up to eight days on a single charge. This upgrade makes it easier for users to wear the ring continuously, without the need for frequent recharging. Given that the ring is designed for round-the-clock use, having a long-lasting battery is a crucial feature.

The Oura Ring’s companion app has always been an integral part of the user experience, and the Oura Ring 4 brings a more streamlined and user-friendly interface. The updated app offers improved insights and easier navigation. A key feature is the Oura Advisor, which uses generative AI to create a more personalized experience for users, providing health insights and recommendations based on individual data.

Additionally, the app’s Oura Labs feature, which was previously available only to iPhone users, will now be extended to Android users. This update broadens the range of users who can access detailed analytics and advanced insights, further enhancing the appeal of the Oura Ring 4.

The Oura Ring 4 is available for order now, with shipping beginning on October 15, 2024. Priced at $349 in the U.S. and £349 in the U.K., it costs $50 more than its predecessor, the Generation 3 ring. However, the monthly subscription fee for premium features remains the same at $5.99 (or £5.99 in the U.K.).

Overall, the Oura Ring 4 represents a significant upgrade in the smart wearable market, offering improved design, better sensors, extended battery life, and a smarter app experience. For users seeking a stylish, comfortable, and highly functional way to monitor their health, the Oura Ring 4 continues to be a top contender in the world of wearable technology.
