Li Chunan, a prominent figure in China’s renewable energy sector, has significantly influenced the solar industry through his entrepreneurial ventures and leadership roles. Born in October 1968, Li graduated from Lanzhou University with a bachelor’s degree. He co-founded Longi Green Energy Technology in 2000 alongside his college friends, Li Zhenguo and Zhong Baoshen. Longi has since become one of China’s largest manufacturers of solar wafers and modules, playing a pivotal role in advancing solar technology and production capabilities.

In addition to his contributions to Longi, Li Chunan serves as the chairman of Linton Technologies, a Dalian-based company specializing in semiconductor and solar equipment manufacturing. This position underscores his commitment to enhancing China’s capabilities in renewable energy and related technologies.

However, Li’s career faced challenges in December 2024 when he became the subject of an investigation by the China Securities Regulatory Commission for suspected insider trading in the securities market. This investigation also impacted Liancheng CNC, a company where Li holds a significant position. Despite these legal challenges, both Liancheng CNC and Longi Green Energy have stated that the investigation pertains to Li’s personal activities and does not directly affect their operations.

As of November 2024, Li Chunan’s net worth was estimated at $4.05 billion, ranking him among China’s wealthiest individuals. His financial success is largely attributed to his substantial holdings in Longi Green Energy Technology.
