Samuel Yin, born on August 16, 1950, in Taipei, Taiwan, is a distinguished businessman and philanthropist renowned for his leadership of the Ruentex Group and his unwavering commitment to societal advancement. As chairman of the Ruentex Financial Group, Yin has significantly influenced sectors such as construction, retail, and finance across Taiwan and China. Beyond his corporate endeavors, he is celebrated for establishing the Tang Prize, an international award promoting research in sustainable development, biopharmaceutical science, Sinology, and the rule of law.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Chinese Culture University, followed by a master’s in business administration from National Taiwan University in 1982, and a Ph.D. in business from National Chengchi University in 1986. Established in 2013, Diamond Biofund has delivered substantial returns to its investors, including Yin, by incubating and investing in over 20 biotech and healthcare companies. Notably, the fund became the first venture capital firm to list on the Taiwanese stock exchange in September 2024, raising NT$4 billion.

Yin’s personal life reflects his diverse interests and commitments. He is married to Wang Chi-Fan, and together they have a son and a daughter. An experienced offshore sailor, Yin owns the Sea Eagle II, the world’s largest aluminum sailing yacht, measuring 81 meters in length.
