Amex Opens Largest Centurion Lounge at Atlanta Airport

Delta and Northwest Airlines Announce Merger Agreement

Travelers passing through Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the world’s busiest airport, now have a new haven to unwind before flights. On February 14, 2024, American Express unveiled its latest Centurion Lounge, marking it as the largest one yet.

Spanning an impressive 26,000 square feet, the new Centurion Lounge at ATL, located in Concourse E near gate E11, offers travelers a taste of Atlanta’s local charm and hospitality. The lounge’s design pays homage to the city’s nickname, “the city in the forest,” by featuring a stunning 50-year-old olive tree in the main area and a 3,850-square-foot sculpture reminiscent of a forest canopy. Visitors can also enjoy the newly introduced outdoor terraces, equipped with heaters and fans for year-round comfort.

Art enthusiasts will appreciate the local touch in the lounge, with pieces from Atlanta-based artists such as Lucha Rodríguez, Michi Meko, and Evan Blackwell Helgeson. Rodríguez’s textured piece of the American Express watch dog, Meko’s multimedia work inspired by the Georgia landscape, and Helgeson’s 60-foot mural of leaf-shaped items add a unique flair to the space.

When it comes to dining, travelers are in for a treat with Chef Deborah VanTrece’s curated menu. A former flight attendant, VanTrece offers a modern twist on soul food, featuring dishes like Black Eyed Pea Biryani, Za’atar Grilled Chicken Thighs with Green Tomato Chimichurri, and Twisted Soul Salad with Strawberry Peppercorn Vinaigrette. Vegan and gluten-free options are also available, all made with fresh, local ingredients.

For those looking to unwind with a drink, the Centurion Lounge introduces its first dedicated whiskey bar, The Reserve by American Express. Curated by award-winning mixologist Jim Meehan, the menu boasts five whiskey cocktails, including the peach-flavored Drink a Peach and the ginger beer-infused Mayme, Tailored. Additionally, a fully stocked bar and a selection of ten wines chosen by Centurion Lounge Wine Director Anthony Giglio cater to all tastes. Non-alcoholic options are also on offer.

The lounge’s amenities include signature features such as phone booths, workstations, plenty of seating, and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi. Travelers can also take advantage of shower suites and premium restrooms, ensuring a comfortable and relaxing pre-flight experience.

In summary, the opening of the largest American Express Centurion Lounge in Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport provides travelers with a luxurious and relaxing retreat amidst the bustling airport environment. With its local inspirations, curated dining options, and top-notch amenities, the new Centurion Lounge elevates the travel experience for millions of passengers passing through ATL each year.
