Former SpaceX Engineers Sue Elon Musk for Alleged Harassment

Eight former engineers of SpaceX have sued the aerospace company and its CEO, Elon Musk, in California over allegations of sexual harassment and retaliation. The lawsuit, filed on Wednesday, includes claims of illegal termination after the engineers raised concerns about sexual harassment within the company. The plaintiffs, consisting of four men and four women, allege they were fired in 2022 for speaking out against the hostile work environment at SpaceX.

In a press release from the attorneys representing the engineers, it was revealed that the plaintiffs had written an open letter to the company’s management in 2022, challenging the alleged hostile work environment. Following this, they were terminated, leading to a complaint filed by the National Labor Relations Board in January.

Anne Shaver, one of the attorneys for the plaintiffs, stated that SpaceX’s management had allowed a work environment filled with sexual harassment. She criticized the company for firing employees who protested against SpaceX’s failure to address sexual harassment.

The engineers are seeking compensatory and punitive damages, although the exact amount is unspecified. Reuters reported that SpaceX has denied any wrongdoing in this matter.

SpaceX’s President and CEO, Gwynne Shotwell, defended Musk, describing him as one of the best people she knows and criticized the media for misleading narratives.
