Cherry XTRFY has introduced the K5 Pro TMR Compact, a new gaming keyboard designed for competitive players that combines the company’s latest magnetic switch technology with an ultra-fast polling rate. The keyboard builds on the existing K5 lineup by incorporating Cherry MK Crystal Magnetic switches and Tunnel Magnetoresistance (TMR) sensing technology to deliver faster response times and more precise key detection.
According to Cherry, the K5 Pro TMR Compact is engineered to provide micrometer-level accuracy by detecting extremely small magnetic field changes with precision down to 0.01 mm. Compared with conventional Hall-effect magnetic switches, the new TMR technology offers greater sensitivity and improved responsiveness, making it better suited for high-performance gaming.
“The K5 has become an iconic keyboard in the Cherry XTRFY range and with TMR, we’re taking it even further. As the next evolution in magnetic keyboards, TMR delivers higher precision and greater flexibility, while 8000 Hz polling brings you a faster, more responsive gaming experience than ever. With full customizability for every keypress and the features gamers need for a competitive advantage, the K5 Pro TMR is built for those who play for the win,” said Joakim Jansson, Director of Product Management at Cherry.
The keyboard supports fully customizable keystrokes through Cherry’s MagCrate software, allowing users to fine-tune actuation points and assign multiple actions to a single key depending on how far or how long it is pressed. This level of customization is designed to give players greater control during competitive gameplay.
The K5 Pro TMR Compact also features an 8000Hz polling rate, significantly higher than the 1000Hz commonly found on standard keyboards. Combined with its contactless magnetic sensing system, the keyboard is designed to deliver stable input, minimal latency, and exceptionally fast response times.
Beyond performance, Cherry has equipped the keyboard with RGB LED lighting, hot-swappable magnetic switch support, a metal mounting plate, multi-layer damping materials, and pre-lubricated PCB-mounted stabilizers. These features are intended to provide smoother keystrokes, reduced vibration, clearer acoustic feedback, and a more comfortable typing experience during extended gaming sessions.
The keyboard adopts a compact 65% layout to free up desk space for wider mouse movement while maintaining an ergonomic gaming setup. It uses ABS keycaps with laser-etched legends and UV coating, supports N-key rollover and anti-ghosting, includes adjustable feet and integrated status LEDs, and is compatible with Windows 7 or later through a USB-A connection.
The Cherry XTRFY K5 Pro TMR Compact is available now through Amazon and is priced at $149.99 (€149.99).
