Rolls-Royce Reveals One-Off Phantom Regatta Inspired by Sailing

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has introduced the Phantom Regatta, a one-of-a-kind Phantom Extended created by its Bespoke division to honor Britain’s sailing heritage. Inspired by the racing yachts of England’s south coast and the renowned regattas held on the Solent, the exclusive commission will make its public debut at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The bespoke luxury sedan draws much of its inspiration from the coastline surrounding Goodwood. The nearby Solent is home to celebrated sailing events, including Cowes Week, while the region also holds historical significance for Rolls-Royce because company co-founder Sir Henry Royce spent much of his later life at Elmstead in West Wittering, just eight miles from the Home of Rolls-Royce.

The Phantom Regatta’s exterior features a distinctive two-tone paint finish with Regatta Blue across the upper body and English White on the lower section. A hand-painted coachline represents the point where a yacht’s hull meets the water, while polished 22-inch disc wheels are designed to resemble the gleaming steel winches commonly found on competitive sailing yachts.

Inside, the cabin continues the nautical theme through carefully selected colors and handcrafted materials. The front compartment is trimmed in Navy Blue leather inspired by deep coastal waters, while the rear passenger area is finished in Grace White to reflect sailcloth and ocean spray. Turchese embroidery appears on the RR monograms, echoing the turquoise tones of Britain’s coastal waters, while contrasting stitching, seat piping and the steering wheel combine both primary interior colors.

The interior also showcases Piano Milori and Open Pore Royal Walnut veneers throughout the dashboard, rear doors and picnic tables. The bespoke picnic tables required approximately 120 hours of craftsmanship and were designed to resemble the deck of a luxury yacht. Each table consists of 16 individually crafted Royal Walnut planks sourced from the same section of timber to ensure consistent grain, while Black Bolivar wood strips recreate the appearance of traditional deck caulking.

A centerpiece of the cabin is the hand-painted “Watercolour” Gallery artwork extending across the dashboard. Created by a Rolls-Royce in-house artist, the piece depicts the movement of ocean waves using specially developed paints applied directly to open-pore wood. Developing the desired wave effect required two weeks of experimentation with different paint formulations and blending techniques.

Above the passengers, the Bespoke Starlight Headliner features 1,307 individually positioned fiber-optic lights arranged to represent the tidal currents surrounding the Isle of Wight. Illuminated doors further enhance the cabin’s atmosphere during nighttime driving.

The commission also incorporates subtle references to its origins through engraved geographic coordinates hidden inside the dashboard air vents. When the vents are tilted forward, one side reveals the location of Goodwood House while the other marks the Home of Rolls-Royce, linking the vehicle to the place where it was designed and handcrafted.

Rather than relying on obvious maritime styling elements, Phantom Regatta interprets Britain’s sailing tradition through refined craftsmanship, premium materials and carefully integrated design details, creating a highly personalized expression of the Phantom Extended.
