Apple News: iPhone 16 Pro Leaks, AI Plans, Vision Pro Problems

iPhone 16 Pro

This week in Apple news, leaks about the iPhone 16 Pro’s hardware surfaced, revealing a larger battery. Reports suggest a 5% increase in battery size, promising improved endurance. Apple is also considering using graphene to manage chipset heat in the iPhone 16 Pro, potentially offering a thinner solution than traditional heat pipes.

In AI, Apple is expected to make significant strides with its next-generation A18 and M4 chips, featuring an upgraded Neural Engine with more cores. This upgrade aims to enhance AI and machine learning tasks. iOS 18, set to debut in June, is rumored to introduce generative AI features for Siri, Shortcuts, Messages, Apple Music, and more.

iOS 17.4 is on the horizon, bringing improvements like changes to the App Store, Stolen Device Protection, and new emojis. Additionally, code found in the tvOS 17.4 beta hints at a new HomePod with a screen, expanding the device’s capabilities beyond audio.

However, not all is smooth sailing for Apple. The Vision Pro headset, despite its magical experience, is facing criticism for its discomfort, leading to returns from developers and influencers. Some find the headset too heavy and its strap designs uncomfortable, causing headaches and eye strain.

Meanwhile, amidst EU scrutiny over the App Store, iMessage escapes being labeled a core platform service, sparing it from additional regulations. The EU’s decision was based on criteria such as market impact, control of a gateway for business users, and an entrenched position, which iMessage did not meet. Microsoft’s Bing search engine also did not meet these criteria.
