Jung Kook Ties Psy’s Billboard Record with ‘Too Much’

Jung Kook Matches Psy's Billboard Record

Jung Kook of BTS continues to make waves on the Billboard charts, with his single “Too Much” achieving a significant milestone. The track has spent an impressive 10 weeks on the Rhythmic Airplay chart, tying with Psy’s iconic “Gangnam Style” as the longest-charting hits by South Korean musicians in the history of the tally.

Despite slipping from No. 18 to No. 21 on the latest chart, “Too Much” is poised to secure an eleventh week on the tally, surpassing Psy’s record. This achievement underscores Jung Kook’s growing influence and impact on the music industry.

“Too Much” not only matches Psy’s record but also stands out as the highest-charting hit among South Korean artists on the Rhythmic Airplay chart, reaching No. 13 at its peak. This success is particularly notable given the limited number of songs by South Korean musicians that have entered this chart, with just five tracks achieving this feat so far.

Jung Kook’s collaboration with pop singer The Kid Laroi and hip-hop artist Central Cee showcases his versatility and ability to transcend boundaries. While “Too Much” is not a solo effort, it adds another impressive achievement to Jung Kook’s discography outside of BTS.

The impact of South Korean artists on the global music scene continues to grow, with Blackpink’s Jennie also maintaining her presence on the Rhythmic Airplay chart with “One of the Girls,” her collaboration with The Weeknd and Lily Rose Depp, holding steady at No. 26.

As Jung Kook’s “Too Much” inches closer to making history as the longest-running hit by a South Korean artist on the Rhythmic Airplay chart, it serves as a testament to the increasing influence and success of K-pop on the international music scene.
