“The Watchers” to Stream Digitally Shortly After Theatrical Release

The Watchers

Horror film “The Watchers,” directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan, daughter of M. Night Shyamalan, is set to premiere on digital streaming services shortly after its theatrical release.

Starring Dakota Fanning, the movie opened in theaters on June 7 and will be available for premium video on demand starting June 28, according to Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment. The film follows Mina, a 28-year-old artist who becomes stranded in a vast, untouched forest in western Ireland. Seeking shelter, she finds herself trapped alongside three strangers who are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night.

Produced by M. Night Shyamalan, “The Watchers” marks Ishana Night Shyamalan’s feature directorial debut. Prime Video has listed June 27 as the release date, with availability after 9 p.m. Pacific Time. The film is currently available for pre-order on Ultra HD for $24.99 on Prime Video, VUDU, and AppleTV+.

Additionally, Warner Bros. Discovery announced that “The Watchers” will be released on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on August 27. The film has earned $15.8 million at the domestic box office and $9.4 million internationally, totaling $25.2 million worldwide to date, against a $30 million production budget.

Critically, “The Watchers” received a 32% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with an audience score of 52% based on over 250 user ratings. Despite these ratings, the film’s financial success remains uncertain, especially compared to “Tarot,” a horror movie released in May that received negative reviews but grossed nearly $47 million worldwide against an $8 million budget. “The Watchers” faces a greater challenge to profitability due to its higher production budget.
