Amazon has announced that Prime Day 2026 will take place from 12:01 a.m. PDT on June 23 through June 26, offering exclusive discounts to Prime members around the world. The four-day shopping event will feature deals across 35 product categories, while new Alexa-powered artificial intelligence features are set to help customers discover offers, track prices and make purchases more efficiently.
The move marks only the second time Amazon has held its flagship summer sales event in June rather than July, following a similar schedule change in 2021. The company is keeping the four-day format that was first introduced in 2025. Shoppers can expect discounts on popular categories such as electronics, fashion, beauty products, home goods and kitchen essentials. Amazon is also placing greater attention on groceries and everyday necessities as it promotes its free same-day delivery service on qualifying orders over $25 within its expanded delivery network.
Throughout the event, Amazon will introduce exclusive “Today’s Big Deals” promotions three times daily at 12 a.m., 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. PDT. Each round will feature at least five offers with discounts reaching up to 50%. Additional limited-time deals will be released every five minutes during peak shopping periods.
Alexa’s new AI capabilities will play a central role during this year’s event. Customers will be able to receive personalized deal recommendations, create alerts for products they are monitoring, review a year’s worth of pricing history, and even enable automated purchases when selected items reach their desired price point.
Prime Day was first launched in 2015 to celebrate Amazon’s 20th anniversary and was initially promoted as a one-day shopping event similar to a summer version of Black Friday. The company gradually expanded the event over the years, moving to a two-day format before temporarily shifting it to October in 2020 due to the pandemic. Prime Day returned to June in 2021 before being held in July from 2022 through 2025. Last year’s four-day event became Amazon’s largest Prime Day on record, generating its strongest performance for any four-day period that included the annual sale. Independent sellers, most of them small and medium-sized businesses, also achieved record sales and item volumes during the event.
Neil Saunders, managing director of retail at GlobalData, said Amazon’s major discount events remain highly effective at driving consumer spending, particularly as shoppers continue to focus on value. He noted that Prime Day is expected to be even larger this year, with Amazon emphasizing savings on both everyday essentials and discretionary purchases. Saunders added that extending the event gives consumers more time to evaluate purchases, reflecting increasingly thoughtful shopping habits.
