Netflix is preparing to release a new original movie that has already attracted strong critical attention, with “Don’t Say Good Luck” currently holding a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The dramedy arrives on the streaming service August 14 and features a prominent ensemble cast.

The film centers on Sophia Birenbaum, played by Sunny Sandler, a high school student involved in her school’s musical production. Her life becomes increasingly complicated when problems at home create more drama away from the stage.

“Don’t Say Good Luck” brings together several recognizable actors, including “New Girl” star Max Greenfield, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” actress Stephanie Beatriz, Steve Buscemi and Jon Lovitz. Melanie Lynskey, known for “Yellowjackets,” is also featured and has emerged as one of the film’s most frequently praised performers among critics.

Deadline similarly praised Lynskey, describing her as “exquisite” while playing a loving parent dealing with her own crisis and working to support her daughter despite difficult circumstances.

Lynskey’s performance has become a recurring point of praise across the early reviews, adding to interest in the actress following her work on “Yellowjackets.” She currently has no other projects listed on her upcoming slate.

A perfect Rotten Tomatoes score is uncommon for Netflix original movies, making the early critical response to “Don’t Say Good Luck” notable ahead of its release.
