Sony and Marvel Studios’ “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is continuing its extraordinary box-office run, crossing $1 billion internationally and surpassing $700 million in North American ticket sales. The film is projected to approach or exceed $1.9 billion worldwide by the end of its third weekend, putting several major blockbusters within reach on the all-time global rankings.
The latest Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel is expected to enter the weekend with roughly $1.76 billion in worldwide revenue. A projected $145 million in global ticket sales during its third weekend would push the movie beyond $1.9 billion by Sunday, with a potential path to the $2 billion milestone if its current momentum continues.
At that level, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” would move past “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” which finished with $1.92 billion worldwide, and close in on “Avengers: Infinity War,” which earned approximately $2.05 billion. The Spider-Man sequel is expected to overtake “Infinity War” by Monday or Tuesday at the latest.
The film is also on course to surpass the $2.07 billion global total of “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens,” potentially moving into sixth place on the all-time worldwide box-office list by the middle of next week.
Its eventual position will depend heavily on how well the movie maintains its momentum in the coming weeks. A strong performance this weekend could increase expectations for a final haul above $2.2 billion and put the film in contention with “Titanic” and “Ne Zha 2” for a fourth- or fifth-place finish among the biggest worldwide releases ever.
While a $2.5 billion total remains too early to assess, premium-format screenings are helping maintain the film’s box-office strength. IMAX and other premium theaters are contributing to continued sales, while strong weekday numbers and relatively steady weekly performances indicate that substantial audiences remain available. Premium formats such as IMAX and 3D are particularly popular in overseas markets, including the Asia-Pacific region.
The movie will face additional competition throughout August, particularly from family-oriented releases. “PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie,” “Coyote vs. Acme,” “Tom and Jerry: Forbidden Compass” and the science-fiction action film “The Dog Stars” are among the titles arriving during the month. None is currently expected to significantly disrupt Spider-Man’s overall run, although the growing number of family films could gradually reduce the superhero movie’s weekly share of family audiences.
Current projections put “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” at approximately $1.95 billion worldwide by the end of the weekend, with a moderate estimate placing its eventual worldwide total between $2.18 billion and $2.2 billion. At that level, “Titanic” and “Ne Zha 2” would remain ahead of it on the all-time rankings, although stronger-than-expected performances could give Spider-Man a chance to challenge for a place in the top five.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is also emerging as one of the few serious contenders for the title of 2026’s highest-grossing movie. “Avengers: Doomsday” is expected to benefit from the momentum surrounding the MCU and Spider-Man’s presence and could potentially match or exceed the new Spider-Man film’s performance. Beyond those two releases, few other 2026 films are currently expected to reach the same level of the all-time box-office rankings, potentially putting Marvel Studios in position to dominate the year’s theatrical charts again.
