‘Reacher’ Season 4 Begins With New Mission And Weekly Episodes

Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher in Season 4

Alan Ritchson returns as Jack Reacher in Season 4 of Prime Video’s hit action series, with the new installment premiering this week and sending the former Army Military Police investigator into another dangerous case. The season draws from Lee Child’s “Gone Tomorrow,” the author’s 13th Jack Reacher novel, and opens with a mysterious subway encounter in Philadelphia that leads Reacher toward a conspiracy reaching into the highest levels of government.

The character was previously portrayed by Tom Cruise in two feature films released in 2012 and 2016 before Prime Video relaunched the property as a television series in 2022. Ritchson’s version of Reacher debuted with Season 1, which adapted Child’s 1997 novel “Killing Floor.” Season 2, released in 2023, was based on “Bad Luck and Trouble,” the author’s 11th book, while Season 3 in 2025 adapted “Persuader,” the seventh novel in the series.

Ritchson has also taken a more active role in shaping the show’s action sequences. He previously said he was unhappy with how the fights in Season 2 were filmed and edited and pushed for changes beginning with Season 3. “One thing I’ll say that I’ve really taken charge of is the action,” Ritchson said in 2025. He explained that he wanted the action to better reflect the descriptions found in Child’s books.

Ritchson said the third season adopted “a faithful approach and the kind of thing that you see when you read the description of the action in the books.” Early reviews of Season 4 indicate that the latest episodes continue the intense, hard-hitting style established in the previous season.

Season 4 begins with Reacher encountering a stranger on a Philadelphia subway in tragic circumstances. His subsequent investigation reveals a much larger threat involving a powerful government conspiracy, putting the lone traveler at the center of another dangerous mission.

The new season premiered on Prime Video at 3 a.m. ET and midnight PT on Aug. 12, with its first three episodes released simultaneously. The season will contain eight episodes in total, with new installments arriving every Wednesday through Sept. 16.

The opening three episodes are titled “City of Brotherly Love,” “Cage Fight” and “One Small Step,” all released Aug. 12. Episode 4 is scheduled for Aug. 19, followed by Episode 5 on Aug. 26, Episode 6 on Sept. 2, Episode 7 on Sept. 9 and the eighth and final episode on Sept. 16. Titles for Episodes 4 through 8 had not been announced.

Nick Santora, who also created “FUBAR,” developed the series. Season 4 features Ritchson alongside Chris Marquette, Sydelle Noel, AGNEZ MO, Anggun, Kevin Weisman, Marc Blucas, Kevin Corrigan and Kathleen Robertson.

All 24 episodes from the first three seasons of “Reacher” are currently available to stream on Prime Video.
