‘MAGA’ Bomb Threats Target Connecticut Democrats

Six congressional Democrats from Connecticut were targeted with bomb threats on Thanksgiving, each signed “MAGA,” the slogan associated with former President Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” campaign. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries disclosed the alarming incidents on Friday, describing them as “unacceptable” and a dangerous escalation of political violence. Jeffries said the threats ranged from claims of pipe bombs in mailboxes to swatting, a tactic of making false emergency calls to provoke an armed police response. The Connecticut lawmakers targeted included Senator Chris Murphy and Representatives Jim Himes, Joe Courtney, John Larson, Jahana Hayes, and Rosa DeLauro. All six are Democrats. Jeffries assured the public that the House Democratic leadership is working with the Sergeant at Arms office to bolster security for members of Congress.
