Samsung has reduced the price of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in key markets just weeks before the expected arrival of the Galaxy Z Fold 8, giving consumers a chance to purchase the current-generation foldable at its lowest price in months. However, the discounts come amid broader pricing pressures linked to the ongoing memory market crisis, which previously contributed to higher foldable device costs.
In the United States, Samsung has lowered the price of every Galaxy Z Fold 7 storage configuration by $200. The 256GB version now sells for $1,799.99, down from $1,999.99, while the 512GB model has dropped to $1,999.99 from $2,199.99. The 1TB variant is now priced at $2,299.99, reduced from $2,499.99. Although the promotion offers meaningful savings, it is less substantial than the $400 discount available during a previous sale in November, when the entry-level model reached $1,599.
The current pricing environment reflects higher component costs, particularly in memory, which have already pushed prices higher for some storage options this year. As a result, the latest reductions may appear less dramatic for buyers comparing them with earlier promotions.
In the United Kingdom, Samsung is offering up to £300 in cashback through Samsung Wallet for customers who purchase a Galaxy Z Fold 7 before June 23. The promotion effectively reduces the cost of the device, bringing the entry price closer to £1,499. Additional savings are available through retailers such as Amazon, where the Fold 7 has been discounted to £1,579 while still qualifying for the £300 cashback offer. Combined, the promotion represents as much as £520 in total savings, making it one of the largest discounts seen on the device since its launch.
The discounts arrive ahead of Samsung’s next Unpacked event in London on July 22, where the company is expected to unveil both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. The upcoming launch has prompted some potential buyers to question whether purchasing the Fold 7 now is the best option.
Despite being close to replacement, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 remains a competitive foldable smartphone. Its slim design, foldable software experience, and battery performance continue to receive praise. The arrival of a newer model does not diminish the capabilities of the current generation device.
However, there are reasons some consumers may choose to wait. Reports suggest the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide will feature a lighter design and larger outer and inner displays designed to improve one-handed usability and enhance video viewing by reducing letterboxing. In addition, the launch of the Fold 8 series could place further downward pressure on Galaxy Z Fold 7 pricing, potentially creating even better deals after July 22.
For buyers focused on immediate savings, the current promotions offer one of the strongest opportunities to purchase Samsung’s foldable flagship. For those willing to wait, the next generation of foldable devices and the possibility of additional discounts may make postponing a purchase the more attractive option.
