Zayn Scores First Solo U.K. Vinyl and Physical Chart Hits

Zayn Malik

Zayn Malik has achieved a new milestone in the United Kingdom, earning his first solo entries on two sales-focused music charts with “Lied To,” a track originally released on his 2024 album Room Under the Stairs. The song has experienced a resurgence after receiving a vinyl release, debuting at No. 6 on the Official Vinyl Singles chart and No. 11 on the Official Physical Singles chart.

The achievement comes shortly after the release of Zayn’s latest album, Konnakol, which arrived earlier this year and secured strong chart positions in the U.K. but did not generate any major hit singles. Despite the album’s brief chart run, the renewed interest in “Lied To” has brought the singer to rankings he had never reached as a solo artist.

Although Zayn is now appearing on the Official Vinyl Singles chart for the first time on his own, he previously reached the ranking as a member of One Direction. In October 2015, the group’s “Midnight Memories” peaked at No. 5 and remained on the chart for a total of 23 weeks.

One Direction also enjoyed considerable success on the Official Physical Singles chart, recording nine entries. Six songs — “What Makes You Beautiful,” “Gotta Be You,” “One Thing,” “Live While We’re Young,” “One Way or Another (Teenage Kicks)” and “Best Song Ever” — all reached No. 1. The group’s other charting tracks, “Story of My Life,” “Midnight Memories” and “Steal My Girl,” each peaked at No. 2.

On this week’s Official Vinyl Singles chart, “Lied To” ranks as the fourth-highest new entry among five songs debuting inside the top 10. Olivia Rodrigo’s “Honeybee” starts at No. 2, while The Clash enters at No. 3 with “Should I Stay or Should I Go.” Luvcat’s “Vampire at the Beach” arrives at No. 5, one position behind Zayn’s track.

The song also records the fourth-strongest debut on the Official Physical Singles chart. Olivia Rodrigo’s “Honeybee” leads the week’s new arrivals at No. 3, followed by Fizz’s “A Crazy Shot in the Dark” at No. 6 and Luvcat’s “Vampire at the Beach” at No. 7. While “Lied To” narrowly misses the top 10 on that chart, its performance marks a significant solo achievement for the former One Direction star.
