Google’s upcoming Pixel Watch 5 lineup has moved a step closer to launch after four smartwatch models appeared in new filings with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC). While the regulatory documents do not identify the products by name, the listed devices are widely believed to be the next-generation Pixel Watch 5 series expected to debut later this year.
The FCC documents describe the products as Google-made “wireless device” models compatible with both metal and non-metal watch straps. Four model numbers are listed: G0F3Y, G25QD, G1XJ6 and GFW3R. Although the filings reveal limited hardware details, they indicate that two models include LTE cellular connectivity alongside Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, while the remaining two support only Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
According to the filings, the G25QD and G0F3Y variants feature LTE antennas, whereas the G1XJ6 and GFW3R models do not. The documentation also suggests Google will continue using 4G LTE connectivity instead of upgrading the smartwatch lineup to 5G, a decision that is unlikely to affect everyday use given the relatively low data demands of wearable devices.
The certification points to a launch strategy similar to the current Pixel Watch 4 family. Google is expected to offer both 41mm and 45mm versions of the Pixel Watch 5, with buyers able to choose between LTE-enabled models or Bluetooth and Wi-Fi-only versions.
Rumors surrounding the new smartwatch indicate few major hardware changes. The Pixel Watch 5 is expected to retain a display measuring up to 1.4 inches, matching the size of the current generation, and there have been no credible reports suggesting a significant redesign.
Interest in the device increased after video game executive Randy Pitchford claimed in a May 31 post on X that he had found what he believed to be a Pixel Watch 5 in the sea. The device shown in his post closely resembled the existing Pixel Watch 4, featuring a similar domed glass display and rear heart-rate sensor layout. The markings visible on the watch also appeared to indicate a 45mm model, although Google has not confirmed the authenticity of the device.
If the hardware remains largely unchanged, Google is expected to place greater emphasis on new artificial intelligence capabilities. The smartwatch is likely to incorporate Google Gemini-powered features, reflecting the company’s broader AI strategy already seen across products such as Chromebooks and the upcoming Googlebook lineup expected later this fall.
Google is widely expected to officially unveil the Pixel Watch 5 series during its next Made by Google event, which traditionally takes place in August.
