PocketBook Q eReader With E Ink Carta 1300 Debuts at IFA 2026

PocketBook is preparing to introduce its new PocketBook Q eReader at IFA 2026 in Berlin, positioning the compact device as a tool for more focused, “mindful reading” at a time when reading for pleasure is becoming less common. Designed around a smartphone-sized form factor, the Q features a 5.84-inch E Ink Carta 1300 touchscreen and is expected to arrive in late fall 2026 for $235 or £175.

The display uses E Ink technology, which relies on microscopic pigment particles to create sharp, high-contrast text while consuming power primarily when the page changes. PocketBook says the device can operate for up to a month on a single charge. Its Carta 1300 screen also delivers a 25% faster refresh rate than the previous Carta 1200 generation, while physical buttons on the sides are designed to make page navigation convenient.

The PocketBook Q includes adaptive smart lighting that responds to changing ambient conditions, allowing users to read in darker environments as well as outdoors. The device also carries an IPX4 splash-resistance rating, providing protection against water splashes.

Running on Linux, the eReader supports 25 popular eBook formats without requiring conversion. It also works with both Adobe DRM and LCP DRM, while the Libby app comes pre-installed for users who want to borrow digital books online.

The Q is also designed for audiobook listening. Bluetooth connectivity allows users to pair compatible headphones, while a natural-sounding Text-to-Speech feature can convert text files into spoken audio when an official audiobook version is unavailable.

PocketBook plans to showcase the Q publicly for the first time at IFA 2026 in Berlin. The eReader is scheduled to go on sale in late fall or autumn 2026, with pricing set at $235 in the U.S. and £175 in the U.K.
