Apple’s release schedule for iOS 27 is reinforcing expectations that the iPhone 18 Pro lineup will debut in September, with the latest developer beta indicating the company remains on track for its annual product rollout. While Apple has not officially confirmed any launch dates, the timing of recent software releases provides a clearer picture of what to expect in the months ahead.
The second developer beta of iOS 27 was released on June 22, 2026, arriving on schedule and suggesting Apple’s development timeline is progressing as planned. The update is particularly significant because iOS 27 is expected to introduce the long-awaited upgraded Siri, a major feature Apple has promised for the software’s public release.
Looking ahead, the third developer beta is expected around July 6, followed shortly afterward by the first public beta. Last year, Apple released the fourth developer beta on July 22 and the first public beta on July 24, but this year’s schedule is expected to return to the company’s earlier pattern, with the public beta arriving just days after the early July developer release, although that timeline could still change.
If Apple follows its previous software testing cycle, iOS 27 will likely receive eight or nine developer beta versions and six public beta releases before the Release Candidate becomes available around September 9. That version is expected to be issued simultaneously for both developer and public beta testers.
Industry expectations also point to Apple’s annual September keynote taking place on Wednesday, September 9, at Apple Park, beginning at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. Although Apple traditionally holds its launch events on Mondays or Tuesdays, Labor Day falls on Monday, September 7, making a Wednesday event the more likely option. The keynote is expected to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, Apple’s first foldable smartphone, which may be called the iPhone Ultra, along with two new Apple Watch models. However, not every announced product is expected to become available immediately.
Following Apple’s recent pattern, iOS 27 is anticipated to receive its general public release on Monday, September 14, allowing users with compatible devices ranging from the iPhone 11 through the iPhone 17 series to install the new operating system before the next-generation iPhones reach stores.
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to go on sale on Friday, September 18, with Apple Stores around the world likely opening at approximately 7 a.m. local time for customers collecting pre-orders. Due to time zone differences, buyers in Sydney, Australia, would receive the new devices well before customers in cities such as Los Angeles. The launch timing for the rumored foldable iPhone Ultra remains uncertain, as manufacturing challenges could delay its release by one or two weeks.
