Destiny 2’s Final Shape Raid Date Sparks Controversy

Destiny 2 Raid Date Controversy

Destiny 2’s Final Shape raid is generating significant buzz as a pivotal moment in the game’s history, promising a showdown with The Witness. However, some are uneasy about the raid’s proximity to the expansion’s release. The expansion launches on June 4, with the raid following closely on June 7 at 10 AM PT, just three days later.

Unlike past raids where teams raced to level up, the new raid arrives in contest mode, eliminating the need for a frantic power grind. Still, players are concerned about the need to grind for various aspects, potentially including the seasonal artifact, though its existence in the final season is uncertain.

Moreover, there are worries about the new Prismatic subclass and its exotic class item, which can roll with random exotic perks. Players wonder if they’ll have enough time to get desirable rolls before the raid, assuming it’s even available by then.

Questions also loom about Prismatic’s potential to disrupt the raid race with its diverse interactions. Bungie may disable certain items or abilities to maintain balance.

The decision to schedule the raid so closely to the expansion likely stems from a story component. It appears there will be a community event after the raid involving all players, not just those attempting the day one clear. This event may conclude the Light and Darkness saga, setting the stage for Destiny 2’s new format of standalone episodes, starting with Echoes, a Vex-focused storyline.

While there may be future content related to Final Shape, especially for those who buy the expansion but not the episodes, it won’t resemble the traditional seasonal model. Bungie seems eager to conclude the current saga and transition to the new format as quickly as possible.
