In a revealing interview on ‘The Skinny Confidential Him & Her’ podcast, Ivanka Trump has definitively announced she will not return to an official White House position during her father’s upcoming presidential term. The former senior advisor, who served during Donald Trump’s first administration, emphasized her desire to support her father in a more personal capacity when he takes office on January 20.
Ivanka cited two primary reasons for her decision. First and foremost, she emphasized the importance of being present for her children, particularly as they enter their teenage years. “My highest most core value is family,” she explained, noting that while it was easier to be absent when her children were younger, teenage years require more physical presence.
The second factor influencing her decision is her aversion to the political landscape. While expressing her love for policy and its impact, Ivanka stated that she “hates politics,” describing it as “a very dark, negative business”. She acknowledged being at the “center of the storm” due to her father’s impending presidency but maintained her distance from the gladiatorial aspects of political life that never resonated with her.
During Trump’s first term, Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner served as unpaid White House advisers, reportedly earning substantial outside income. The couple has maintained a notably low profile during the 2024 campaign, marking a significant shift from their previous involvement.
Looking ahead, Ivanka plans to support her father through more personal means, such as watching movies together or attending sports events, allowing him to relax and be himself. She intends to focus on issues she previously advocated for, including internet safety and child trafficking, but from outside the formal government structure.
