Bruno Mars has added another milestone to his career as his single “I Just Might” extends its reign atop Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs chart. The lead track from his latest album, The Romantic, has now spent 23 consecutive weeks at No. 1, making it the fifth-longest-running chart-topper in the history of the ranking.

Known primarily as a pop artist, Mars has also established himself as one of the genre’s biggest R&B performers, with many of his releases drawing heavily from classic R&B influences. His latest success further strengthens his standing on Billboard’s R&B charts, where “I Just Might” has remained in the top position since debuting at No. 1 in mid-January.

With its 23rd week at the summit, the song moves ahead of Tommy Richman’s “Million Dollar Baby,” which previously shared the fifth-place record. Richman’s hit now drops to sixth on the all-time list as Mars claims the position outright.

The next record on the chart remains some distance away. SZA’s “Kill Bill” ranks fourth with 30 weeks at No. 1, while her “Snooze” spent 32 weeks atop the chart between 2023 and 2024. To surpass those achievements, “I Just Might” would need to remain at No. 1 for several more weeks.

The song continues to perform strongly across all factors used to compile the Hot R&B Songs chart, including streaming, digital sales and radio airplay. It also remains among the top five on both the R&B Streaming Songs and R&B Digital Song Sales rankings.

Radio continues to be a major contributor to the single’s success. “I Just Might” is once again No. 1 on the R&B Radio Songs chart, where it is now tied for the fourth-longest-running leader in the history of that ranking.

Despite Mars’ latest achievement, the all-time Hot R&B Songs record remains with The Weeknd. His crossover hit “Blinding Lights” dominated the chart for 48 weeks beginning in 2020. Leon Thomas holds the second-longest recent run with “Mutt,” which spent 34 weeks at No. 1 and helped establish him as a breakout solo artist.
