Kensington has introduced the SD5010T5 EQ Thunderbolt 5 Docking Station, a new high-performance docking solution designed for professionals working with demanding applications such as 8K video editing, AI workloads, and large data transfers. The dock delivers Thunderbolt 5 connectivity with up to 80Gbps of bidirectional bandwidth, while Bandwidth Boost technology can increase throughput to 120Gbps for video-intensive tasks, all through a single cable.
According to Kensington, the SD5010T5 is built to simplify connectivity while eliminating bottlenecks common in modern creative and professional workflows. Giovanni Sena, Kensington’s Senior Vice President and General Manager, said, “Thunderbolt™ 5 sets a new standard for performance, and the SD5010T5 is designed to make that power practical and accessible for everyday professionals.” He added that the dock combines ultra-fast speeds, triple 4K display capability, and versatile 13-in-1 connectivity in a single-cable solution to help users create more efficient workspaces.
The docking station supports a variety of multi-monitor configurations. Windows users can connect up to three 4K displays at refresh rates of up to 144Hz or two 8K displays at 60Hz using its dual HDMI ports and Thunderbolt 5 connection. For Apple MacBook systems powered by M4 or M5 base chips and M-series Pro and Max processors, the dock supports dual 4K displays at 60Hz through HDMI or a combination of one 4K display and one display up to 6K through the Thunderbolt 5 port. Systems equipped with the latest M5 Pro or M5 Max chips can drive as many as three external displays.
The SD5010T5 also delivers up to 140W of USB-C Power Delivery 3.1, allowing compatible laptops to charge while connected. Kensington’s KonstantCharge feature continues supplying power to connected devices even after the laptop is disconnected from the dock.
Designed as a 13-in-1 docking solution, the device expands connectivity with two Thunderbolt 5 ports, two HDMI 2.1 outputs, one USB-A 10Gbps port, two USB-A 5Gbps ports, two USB-C 10Gbps ports, a 3.5mm audio combo jack, SD and microSD 4.0 card readers, and a 2.5Gbps Ethernet port. The integrated memory card slots are intended to provide fast file transfers for photographers, video editors, designers, and other content creators.
Kensington says the dock is compatible with Thunderbolt 5, Thunderbolt 4, USB4, and USB-C devices running Windows 11 version 23H2 or later and macOS 14.5 or newer. It also supports zero-footprint mounting through the optional K34050WW bracket, includes Kensington security lock slots, and works with the company’s free DockWorks software, which enables Windows users to customize dock settings for performance, connectivity, and security.
The SD5010T5 EQ features an outer enclosure made from 100% post-consumer recycled aluminum, while its packaging is FSC-certified. Kensington is offering the docking station now across North America through its online store and partner retailers at a suggested retail price of $299.99. The product includes a three-year limited warranty.
