Backstreet Boys Return to U.K. Chart With First New Hit in Years

The Backstreet Boys have returned to the U.K. charts with a new single, marking their first fresh appearance on the Official Singles Downloads chart in nearly eight years. The song, “Bottle Up,” was recorded for the upcoming animated film Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie and has debuted at No. 100 on the latest chart.

Although the track entered the ranking in the final position, it still represents a notable achievement for the veteran pop group, which has released only a limited amount of new music in recent years. Since the arrival of their 2019 studio album DNA, the band has largely focused on live performances, aside from releasing A Very Backstreet Christmas and a handful of standalone songs. In 2025, the group revisited one of its biggest albums with Millennium 2.0, an expanded edition that included the single “Hey.”

“Bottle Up” is expected to feature in Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie, which is scheduled to arrive in theaters in the coming weeks. While the song did not generate the kind of chart impact the Backstreet Boys enjoyed during their peak years, it was still able to secure a place on the U.K.’s download-only ranking, which tracks purchases through digital retailers such as iTunes and Amazon.

The debut also sets a new chart milestone for the group. “Bottle Up” is now the Backstreet Boys’ lowest-charting entry on the Official Singles Downloads chart, surpassing the previous record held by “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back),” which reached No. 70 in 2016 despite originally being released years earlier.

The band’s previous new hit on the chart came in November 2018 when “Chances” spent a week at No. 43, narrowly missing the top 40. The Backstreet Boys first appeared on the downloads ranking in June 2005 with “Incomplete.” Later that year, “Just Want You to Know” climbed to No. 6, which remains the group’s only top-10 hit on the U.K. downloads chart.

This week’s Official Singles Downloads chart was led by BTS, whose song “Come Over” debuted directly at No. 1. The track became the South Korean group’s seventh chart-topper and eighteenth top-10 entry on the ranking. Other new arrivals included songs from Aitch, Olivia Rodrigo, Le Sserafim, Katseye, Illit, Kimo Sounds and The Alan Parsons Project.
